Usually we talk pants, but today DGU is talking Brexit…

Partner Jane Garner made the headlines after attending a Department for International Trade event advising businesses about planning for Brexit.

The seminar was useful, but also reassuring for which has exported to more than 80 countries around the world since 2007.

"It was a bit tricky second guessing everything we needed to do to be ready ahead of Brexit, which of course isn't happening overnight. As we already import and export outside the EU, we're set up well to deal with shipping and any new systems and tariffs," said Jane. "It was great to have the DIT experts come to Shrewsbury and to meet so many other business people – many of them facing much more complex changes and challenges."

Jane found DIT's Brexit checklist very useful, reassuring her that DGU was well prepared already and highlighting some additional planning that should be lined up for 2020.

"Here I was in the midst of dozens of exporters and importers from massive companies involved in the likes of engineering and transportation. I was 'That Woman in Men's Underwear' selling boxers and briefs online, which is why I took along the underpants key ring. It really broke the ice, got people talking about what we do at DGU, and kept everyone smiling. Many were surprised, and delighted, to hear that there's an international men's underwear and swimwear retailer in Shropshire, serving gentlemen all over the world."

And she adds: "Thank you Jockey for providing the cute little Y-front brief key ring – when you're talking pants, it helps to have a sample with you that makes people chuckle rather than blush!"
